The Festive Course of the Faculty of Exact Sciences – Class of 2026
With emotion and pride, we celebrated the graduation of a new generation of students of the Faculty of Exact Sciences. Congratulations to the graduates for their perseverance, achievements and dedication!
Guest Researcher
Vlad-Florin Drăgoi has been awarded a fourth grant as a guest researcher at Jean Monnet University, thanks to the internationally impactful results obtained in collaboration with the SESAM team at the CNRS. During a month-long stay in France, he conducted research in the field of post-quantum cryptography based on error-correcting codes. The team's results changed the view on the physical security of a candidate for the post-quantum security standard from NIST and were published at prestigious international conferences. The collaboration continues through joint research projects and the coordination of students in master's and doctoral programs.
University Experience for Students from "Vasile Goldiș" National College in Arad
Two classes from the "Vasile Goldiș" National College in Arad were guests of the Faculty of Exact Sciences and had the opportunity to participate in an introductory course on Probability, delivered by Professor Sorin Nădăban.
The event represented a valuable opportunity for students to explore fundamental mathematical concepts within a university setting, to understand their relevance in practical contexts, and to discover the perspectives offered by higher education in the field of exact sciences.
First Steps in Entrepreneurship
The event "First Steps in Entrepreneurship", organized by the UAV Student Entrepreneurial Society together with the Faculty of Exact Sciences, offered students the opportunity to participate in an authentic and interactive discussion about entrepreneurship and real-world business environment challenges.
Special guest Dragoș Șerbu, Manager of Logiscool Arad and an educational entrepreneur, shared insights from his professional experience, speaking openly about his early days in entrepreneurship, the mistakes and lessons that shaped his journey, and how an idea can turn into a concrete project.
The discussion addressed current topics such as opportunities for IT students, validating a business idea, accessing funding, and the challenges of decision-making in a continuously changing entrepreneurial environment. The event stood out for the sincerity and practical nature of the dialogue, providing participants with valuable insights into the reality behind building a business.
Awards Ceremony of the Caius Iacob Competition
On May 26, the Faculty of Exact Sciences organized the awards ceremony for the "Caius Iacob" International Mathematics and Computer Science Competition, an event dedicated to performance and excellence in the field of exact sciences. The prizes awarded rewarded the outstanding results obtained by the participants and highlighted the importance of supporting education and excellence!
Summer Internship Presentation in Collaboration with xpecto AG
On Thursday, April 23, 2026, a presentation was held for the summer internship programme organized in collaboration with xpecto AG from Germany (Landshut), aimed at students interested in developing a career in the IT field.
The event provided participants with a detailed overview of how the internship is structured, including information about the types of projects they will be involved in, the technologies used, and the experience of working within an international team. Additionally, the stages of the selection process and opportunities for long-term collaboration were presented.
Participants had the opportunity to interact directly with the team representatives, ask questions, and learn concrete details about the opportunity to complete an internship in Germany, alongside the Arad-based team.
Students from Sebiș Theoretical High School Visit FSE
On April 1, 2026, our faculty hosted a group of 9th-grade students specializing in Mathematics and Computer Science from Sebiș Theoretical High School, who toured the faculty's laboratories. They were coordinated by their teacher, Mrs. Angela Delia Costea.
The visit was part of the "Science in Schools" initiative, a project dedicated to promoting technical disciplines and facilitating dialogue between pre-university and academic environments.
The main points of interest during the meeting were:
Laboratory Tour: Students had the opportunity to see state-of-the-art equipment and understand the experimental processes carried out by our researchers.
Career Guidance: Discussions were held regarding the professional prospects offered by graduating from a technical faculty.
Academic Life: Faculty representatives provided the high school students with an overview of the facilities, scholarships, and opportunities available to UAV students.
Research Projects: Teaching staff presented current research directions, highlighting the importance of sustainability and modern technology.
This initiative is part of the faculty's strategy to support talented youth and provide them with the necessary resources to plan a successful educational path.

Popularizing Science through Play
Our colleague, Vlad Drăgoi, designed a creative and engaging session for the students of Preparatory Class B from the "Preparandia - Dimitrie Țichindeal" National College, guided by their primary school teacher, Prof. Maria Moț.
The young learners discovered how computers determine the maximum number in a sequence—and they didn't stop there! They quickly grasped the concept and moved forward, applying a simple sorting algorithm on their own. Learning through play and exploration made the experience both effective and extremely enjoyable.
This activity brought a great deal of curiosity and enthusiasm to the classroom, highlighting once again how the project successfully promotes STEAM education, developing logical thinking and problem-solving skills from an early age.
Intensive Course in General Mathematics, HTWG Konstanz
As a visiting professor at the Konstanz University of Applied Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pastorel Gaspar delivered an intensive course in general mathematics for students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. The course was designed to harmonize the participants' mathematical backgrounds and facilitate the transition from high school mathematics to engineering-focused mathematics.
Over the course of the 30-hour program, students reviewed and deepened their understanding of essential concepts in algebra, mathematical analysis, geometry, and trigonometry, ranging from algebraic equations to practical applications relevant to the field of mechanical engineering.
The initiative demonstrated that, through an interactive and applied approach, mathematics can become not only a fundamental tool for engineering but also a space for collaboration and intellectual growth.
