"The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet." - Aristotle

Paraphrasing the great philosopher Aristotle, the journey within the Faculty of Exact Sciences is not easy either.

It comes with sleepless nights during exams, days when you have to wake up early, many math exercises, and computer science assignments that give you headaches.

Many decide to give up and take the easy path in life.

But for those who decide to give their best, to work and to learn, in the end, they will reap the sweet fruits of a successful career.

For me, university was an adventure. I participated in the Erasmus program for a year and a half in Poland. It was an unforgettable experience; it helped me face my fears, become independent, and throughout the program, I received materials and advice from professors in Romania to equate the courses from the university curriculum.

The university offered me a vision for my career path and helped me build its foundations.

I started college with the thought of becoming a math teacher, but over time, thanks to good professors, I also came to understand computer science, a field I didn't master at all.

I began by working through an Erasmus Internship at a multinational company as an SQL Developer in Warsaw, then I was hired by a multinational as a Data Engineer in Cluj-Napoca, and later I found the right place abroad and worked at an International Bank in Malta. I'm sure this is just the beginning of my career, and I have much more to learn and offer.

So my advice is not to give up. You will enjoy it later if you persevere and work hard, and at UAV, you will benefit from all the support and knowledge of the professors.

Emanuela Balaceanu (Class of 2018, Mathematics and Computer Science)

„As a graduate of the Faculty of Exact Sciences at 'Aurel Vlaicu' University of Arad,

I confess that it is a joy to continue my professional career and studies, begun as a student and continued as a teaching staff member within this University.

I am part of a young, dynamic team, continuously striving to perfect both our teaching style and a curriculum suited to the present. One of our concerns is the constant modernization of laboratories, updating to current standards, and adjusting the curriculum according to the dynamics of the labor market and student requirements.

A part of who I am is owed to my professors and college colleagues with whom I shared a passion for programming, computers, including gaming.

Per aspera ad astra (Seneca).

Paraphrasing: through study, we reach performance.”

Antonio Lupuți (Class of 2016), Assistant Lecturer, 'Aurel Vlaicu' University of Arad

"Due to my passion for the IT field, and especially for software development, I chose to study at the Faculty of Exact Sciences, specializing in Computer Science at the 'Aurel Vlaicu' University of Arad.

Throughout my student years, I had the chance to meet exceptional professors who helped me develop and acquire important knowledge. As a result, even during my internship, I managed to secure a future job as a programmer at an IT company in Arad.

Currently, I work for a multinational company where I am involved in software development and web security. I have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from multiple countries and to practice the things I prepared for since my university days, which is very fulfilling.

I recommend to all young people passionate about technology to pursue courses at the Faculty of Exact Sciences because IT is an extremely sought-after field, and the opportunities in the market are countless.”

Flavius Crișan (Class of 2014 - Bachelor's / 2016 - Master's), Software Developer, Visma Software

"I graduated from the Faculty of Exact Sciences, specializing in Mathematics and Computer Science, at Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad. I also pursued my master's studies—Mathematical Modeling in Research and Teaching—within the same faculty. The fact that I have a double specialization has greatly helped me in creating more opportunities.

After graduating, I taught in lower secondary education for a year. But as life sometimes brings unexpected people and opportunities our way, I chose to pursue a career in programming.

Currently, I work as a programmer at the multinational company The Access Group. The analytical thinking, mathematical modeling, and basic programming concepts acquired during my five years of study help me today to do what I love and bring me immeasurable satisfaction."

Marcela-Florina Florea (Class of 2015), Programmer, The Access Group

"Being part of the first generation of students at the Faculty of Exact Sciences within 'Aurel Vlaicu' University of Arad, everything was new, interesting, and dynamic, but also a challenge that you don't find very often.

There were no outdated, dusty subjects; everything was forward-looking—always curious, drawn to all the technologies of that time, equally among both students and professors.

The professors were by our side, helping us identify our academic preferences so that later, in the 3rd and 4th years, we could focus on these specializations (networking, programming, databases).

Besides the information gathered from the subjects studied, the faculty left me with a skill that has been and continues to be essential in my professional journey, day by day—I learned how to learn! Without this skill, it would be impossible for me to navigate the exceptional volume of information that changes at an incredible speed in the IT field."

Mihai Anton (Class of 2006), Cloud Architect, SMS-Digital GmbH

"One of the best decisions I have made was to take my first steps into the world of IT. Since I was young, I knew what I wanted to do and the field in which I wanted to work.

I feel privileged to have completed my studies at UAV, where I had unique and memorable experiences.

I learned from many distinguished professors, true educators who have worked in the IT industry, offering a real and tangible perspective on the field.

I had the great pleasure and honor of having Professor Dominic Bucerzan as a teacher and mentor at international scientific conferences and for my dissertation. He has done pioneering work in the IT field here in Arad.

I also had the honor and pleasure of having Professor Lucian Tomescu as a teacher and mentor, about whom I have only words of praise, as I do for many other professors who guided me over the five years.

Although established after the revolution, the Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad can proudly stand alongside other universities in the country with a history of 70-80 years, if not even surpass them, in terms of the preparation of the teaching staff and the facilities in the classrooms.

I warmly recommend the university to all those who desire a quality education.”

Sorin Miroiu (Class of 2021 - Master's), Founder & Senior iOS Developer, Wizlab Systems

"I feel honored to have had the opportunity to be a student and master's candidate at the Faculty of Exact Sciences within Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad.

Throughout these years, I had the chance to learn and develop my knowledge related to the basics of programming, which helped me in my development as a future programmer.

I can say that I was pleasantly surprised by the involvement of the teaching staff in guiding students toward their careers and the conferences organized to encourage students to produce publications that would help them professionally.

Thanks to this involvement, the process of getting employed in the IT field was very easy, and I am deeply grateful.

I would proudly recommend any future student to choose this faculty."

Tudor-Bogdan Goșa (Class of 2019 - Bachelor's / 2021 - Master's), Project Manager, BAUM Engineering

"Teaching is a special calling because this profession is not suitable for everyone; you must have at least a minimal love for sharing what you know with others. As a teacher, the greatest responsibility is to ensure that students or pupils acquire academic knowledge. You should desire to initiate someone, just as others have done for you, and offer students the chance to see you as a role model. These values were ingrained in my soul and conscience since my student years when I was studying at the Faculty of Exact Sciences, specializing in Mathematics and Computer Science, followed by master's studies in Mathematical Modeling in Research and Teaching, both at Aurel Vlaicu University of Arad, where I had true educators—teaching staff who were involved in shaping my career.

After graduating, I began teaching in lower secondary education, and upon obtaining my teaching certification and completing my master's studies, I also taught in upper secondary education.

During my student years, to be a good educator, I learned that the most important thing—which I try to apply—is to know the student beyond your subject, to reach into their soul, and to prepare them for life.

A beautiful memory and profound respect to all those who made possible the fulfillment of the dreams of so many generations of students!"

Amalia-Diana Neag (Class of 2017 - Bachelor's / 2019 - Master's), Mathematics Teacher, Sfânta Maria High School
